Petronas Penapisan Terengganu Sdn. Bhd. has started lubricant analysis program with Metalux Molecular (S) Pte. Ltd. since December 2000. Our main concern at that time was to decide whether 10 units of our critical compressors required total overhaul or only minor inspection during May 2001 warranty shutdown. With a time constraint, we needed to decide based on lube oil analysis result. After contacting a few lube oil service provider, only Metalux (S) Pte. Ltd, could meet our dateline.
We were pleased with the way Metalux responded to our requirement. Lube oil analysis results were well presented. Very easy to understand and interpret lubricant condition report provided by Metalux Laboratory Analyst. Based on the result, we were able to decide which compressors required total overhaul and which compressors only for minor inspection.
We also easily saved our shutdown cost from unnecessary replacement of compressors lube oil and hours on manpower supplied.
